“And out of good still to find means of evil.”
-Book One, Line 165
“Dean.” The voice came from behind him, clear and calm, yet with a tinge of something to it that the hunter had recognized a long time ago, something that gave him the notion to be on guard. He swung around with tension in him, that caused the stranger who had said his name to smirk. “Calm down, you’ll raise your blood pressure.” He examined Dean up and down, slowly, before making direct eye contact again. “We wouldn’t want that. Did you know you’re a very hard man to find? So is your brother, but, I have a feeling finding one of you solves the problem of both.”
Dean released the tension in his shoulders, tired of the amusement on the man’s face. “And who the hell are you, and why shouldn’t I shoot you?”
The other man did not change his expression, except for perhaps a slight increase in his amusement. “You can shoot me, but I can assure you that nothing will happen. So violent though, aren’t you? Most humans are but I must admit….you’re one of the roughest of animals, aside from Sam. Finally meeting you is fascinating.”
Dean opened his mouth to say something when he was abruptly cut off by a third voice, one that he recognized.
“Leave.”
“Castiel,” The stranger examined the angel as he had Dean, though his expression had gotten darker. “You were my next stop.”
“I said, leave. Now.” Cas seemed incredibly serious even for him, which was making Dean curious as to just what had walked through the door.
He interjected, moving toward the two of them and raising a questioning eyebrow. “Do you two know each other? ….Bad breakup?”
Cas didn’t move to look at Dean, or anywhere else but the man in front of him. “….This is Azrael, and he has no place here.”
“Actually, little brother, if there is anyone who should not be here, it’s the Winchesters. You make me look like a joke, and you hid them from me. I’m just here to fix what needs to be fixed.”
Dean found himself more on edge, staring at Azrael with caution. “Which means?”
The archangel turned his head and looked at him with an emotionless face, his voice replicating his expression. “It means you’ll die, Dean. Permanently, and so will Sam.”
(An expansion from this.)

This temporary flesh and bone.
We know that it’s over now,
